Subject: Oljeforbruk etter QMI behandling

I bought QMI engine flush and treatment for my 1996 model BMW 520i km 141000. After the treatment the engine started to use a lot of oil, had to fill after about half a liter of oil after fifty miles of driving. Then I turned to you for guidance. Your suggestion was that I should try driving for a while longer to see if the consumption decreased. Your theory was that the stuck piston rings had loosened and needed some time and driving to regain their original elasticity. I drove about 150 miles with light driving, without the consumption decreasing significantly.
Then I decided that I would try to drive a long trip so that the engine could work under operating temperature for a longer time. I covered about 120 miles on this trip. This obviously caused the piston rings to “set” again, because I did not have to top up oil on this trip. Today the engine doesn’t use any oil at all, and fuel consumption has gone down drastically. I measured the consumption on the long trip at about 0.64 liters of fuel per mile. This is very good considering that this is a car that weighs almost one and a half tons!
